The story of my candle loving son!

B asked me the a few weeks ago about Busy Bee candles. Well he actually said 'you know that Busy company who make the candles you always buy?'. Is my 9 year old son a scented candle addict, like me? Hmm, yes that sounds about right actually! Particularly because earlier that week after school, as we walked in the door, he looked at me with a huge grin on his face and said, 'oh wow Mum what have you been making?'.

I was quite confused, having done no baking all day and having spent most of my day off doing boring housework chores. Nothing, I told him and asked why. 'because of that gorgeous smell! What is it then if you've not made anything?'. It took me a moment to realise that from the front door, he was referring to my Vanilla Dream Busy Bee candle that was alight in the living room! I told him it was my candle he said, 'it's gorgeous! I love this smell!'.

B loves looking through my 'stash' of wax tarts and helping me choose the next fragrances for my burner's. He even requested a burner for his bedroom and of course wax tarts of his favourite scents - all of those chocolate related, no less! - Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Chocolate Orange, Chocolate and Strawberries - are you getting the ongoing theme yet?

Anyway, the reason why he was asking about Busy Bee was because at the time, I was making his lunch - you've guessed it - chocolate spread sandwiches, and for a split second after my reply - he gets all excited. 'I know!' he says. 'Get Busy Bee to make a chocolate and caramel scented candle - mmmmmmm, yummmmmy yummmmm!'. Inspired, I think by the new sandwich spread, which was chocolate spread, with caramel, that he'd just inhaled the scent of (by LITERALLY sticking his face in the jar)! He then got got very excited and started muttering at how amazing this new candle would be, and how much Busy Bee would love him for making this new 'best selling' scent! :o)

He the requests I speak to Busy Bee about his suggestion. Anyway, the response from Busy Bee is that they are in the process of creating new scents, and they LOVED his idea. I tell him they are happy with his suggestion, and they may plan on making it, once they have seen what they can do. He beams at me and says, 'what? people will buy MY candle?!'. Clearly this excites him very much.

I was then, of course totally gobsmacked to find this with my next order, a week or so later!

What was it? Well, perhpas more importantly....

They had only gone and made up a candle for B!

And B was the first to sample it! Now Busy Bee have indeed launched the new scent - Vanilla Choc Sundae.

B is over the moon with his candle, however he has FORBIDDEN me to light it - EVER. Apparently he is going to keep it 'for ever and ever!'. I can now tell he is busy plotting other new ideas too, so Busy Bee - watch out!

In fact, I mentioned that he and M had to dress as their 'chosen career' for a recent fundraising event at school. So , I ask you, who do you think B wanted to dress up as? That's right - a candle maker! I came home from work, and P said to me 'you need to talk to B...he wants to dress as a candle maker!' and I was like, 'riiiiight!'. Cue a quick tweet to Busy Bee to check what a candle maker looks like - apparently it's an apron, measuring jug and wooden spoon. Plus his 'special candle' and a collection of other products, and of course a list of orders. Job done.

So yes, I may clearly be loving Busy Bee candles, but do you know what? I'm not alone - my 9 year old son is too! :o) xx
